General Insurance Botswana (Pty) Limited (GIB) offers an integrated range of insurance products to the business sector of the Botswana economy. GIB is a licensed insurance company under the Insurance Act. It is a majority locally owned company but also enjoys participation by a foreign investor.

Security

GIB has a secure capital base and the backing of a Tripple A rated Reinsurance company namely, Munich-Re as the leading Reinsurer. Other Reinsurance companies participating to GIB’s risks are Hannover-Re and Africa Re-insurance Company.

Corporate Philosophy

GIB’s corporate philosophy is based on two separate allied strategies

Firstly, the careful selected employment of management personnel with first hand experience of the world’s most competitive markets, who are well placed to fully understand and utilise the latest information technology and at the same time pass on the knowledge and experience to others.

Secondly, the effective use of the latest information technology, in which the company has made substantial investment. This, combined with the latest sophisticated and relevant software will enable GIB to provide swift response to any situation.

GIB’s objective is to satisfy the clients first and also occupy a dominant position in the insurance market through consistence product developments based on modern business practices. GIB will focus on value-add services encompassing pre and post insurance cover activities. GIB will act as the
“One-Stop-Shop” for pre-placing and post-placing support to its Business Partners.

GIB will provide the following value–add services to its Business Partners:

• Pre placing support, e.g. fast response to quotations and queries, etc
• Technical and Sales support
• Tailor made insurance products
• Product updates
• Regular news letters
• Commission Incentives, where premiums are paid within a reasonable time.
• Web page support, through our home page our Business Partners will be able to obtain pre-placing support. A Business Partner will be able to log onto GIB’s home page and place cover or place a request which will automatically be routed to our respective underwriting or claims departments.
